Bluehost

If you've purchased your domain through Bluehost, then this guide will show you how to configure your domain, set up domain forwarding and add it to your Kong store.

Configuring your domain

  1. Log in to your Bluehost account.
  2. In the Domain Management section, click DNS Zone Editor.
  3. In the Select a Domain dropdown, select the domain you want to configure.
  4. In the CNAME (Alias) table, click edit on the www row.
  5. In the Points to field enter your Kong store URL, which will look something like your-store-name.kong365.com. You can find this by logging into your Kong store and going to Settings then Domains, and clicking the Copy to Clipboard button next to the CNAME Value field.
  6. Click Save and you’re done.

Forwarding your domain to www.

  1. Log in to your Bluehost account.
  2. Click on the Redirects icon in the Domain Management section.
  3. Select Permanent (301) as the type.
  4. In http://(www.) select the domain you would like to redirect from the dropdown.
  5. In redirects to, enter your domain including http://www., for example http://www.mydomain.com.
  6. In the www. redirection section, select Do not redirect www.
  7. Put a tick in the Wildcard Redirect checkbox.
  8. Click the Add this redirect button.

Adding your domain to your Kong store

The last step is to add your domain to your Kong store. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log in to your Kong store.
  2. In the left-hand navigation, click Settings, followed by Domains.
  3. In the Primary Domain field, type in or paste your domain name ensuring to include the www. part.
  4. Click the Verify button to check that your CNAME record has been set up correctly.
  5. Save your settings.

Redirect to your primary custom domain

Once you’ve saved your domain, you’ll see an additional checkbox titled “Redirect visitors to my primary custom domain”. Ticking this will mean that any visitors that try to access your Kong subdomain URL, for example your-store.kong365.com, will be redirected to your Primary Custom Domain.

This setting is recommended for most stores, but it’s completely down to personal preference.
