In this guide, we’re going to show you how you can find new Themes, view a demo store and even try a Theme out on your own store. And, once you’re completely happy with your new theme, it’s a simple case of making it your live Theme. Let’s get started!
To browse, demo and install new Themes, you’ll first need to head over to the Theme Store. There are a couple of ways you can get to it:
- If you’re logged in to your store admin, simply go to “Customise” and then choose “Themes”. On the page that loads, click one of the “View Theme Store” links to be taken to the Theme Store.
- If you’re not logged in, you can go to our homepage, trykong.com, and click the “Themes” link in the menu at the top of the page, or in the footer.
You’ll be able to see the Themes currently available in our Theme Store. Clicking on one of the Themes will show you more detail on that particular Theme, along with a “View Demo” link, which will open up a full demo store for you to take a look around. The bar along the top of the screen allows you to switch between desktop and mobile previews, and offers options to install the theme, set it as your draft and more.
You can add as many Themes to your Theme Library as you wish. We’ll only ever charge you for your Live Theme, so feel free to experiment! If you already have a store and you’re logged in, you can add a Theme to your Theme Library, or go right ahead and use it as your Draft Theme. If you don’t have a store yet, then you can sign up and start with your chosen theme by clicking the “Start With This Theme” button.
If you’ve selected a paid theme, you’ll be prompted to enter your card details (if you haven’t already added them). Themes are billed monthly rather than one-off purchases and we only charge you for what you use, so you’ll be invoiced for an amount based on how long you used a paid theme for. Find out more about how billing works.
If you already have a store and you’re logged in, then you’ll be able to install and use a Theme as a Draft Theme. You can have a Live Theme and a Draft Theme simultaneously, so you can be testing out and customising a new theme while your Live Theme is visible to your customers. You can do this from the Theme Store by clicking the “Use as Draft Theme” button, or from your store admin by clicking the “Make Draft” button on an installed theme’s thubmnail image.
Once you’ve chosen a Draft Theme, you can start to customise it. You’ll need to log in to your store’s admin and go to “Customise” then “Themes”. Click the “Draft Theme” tab, and you’ll see a few buttons. The first is for the “Theme Editor”, which allows you to change the fonts, colours and overall appearance of your store.
The second is to “Edit Theme Pages”, which allows you to change the images and content on your homepage, and alter some of the layout of your store. There’s a drop-down menu at the top of each page that allows you to configure different pages or areas of your store.
Lastly, there’s the “Make Live” button, which will use your newley customised Draft theme as your Live Theme. Congratulations! You’ve successfully selected, customised and switched your store’s theme.
