If you've purchased your domain through Gandi, then this guide will show you how to configure your domain, set up domain forwarding and add it to your Kong store.

Configuring your domain

  1. Log in to your Gandi account.
  2. Click on the Administration tab, and then click the Control Panel link.
  3. Click on the domain that you want to manage, and then go to Technical Settings.
  4. Click Manage DNS zone file.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Change the Type to CNAME.
  7. Set the Name to ‘www’, and in the Value field enter your Kong store URL, which will look something like You can find this by logging into your Kong store and going to Settings then Domains, and clicking the Copy to Clipboard button next to the CNAME Value field.
  8. Once you’re done, click the Submit button.
  9. Finally, click Activate this version and you’re all set.

Forwarding your domain to www.

  1. Log in to your Gandi account.
  2. Click on the domain you want to be redirected.
  3. On the right-side of the page in General Information, find Web Forwarding and click Manage.
  4. Click the Add forwarding button.
  5. In Type of forwarding choose 301 (Permanent).
  6. Leave the Subdomain field blank.
  7. In Forwarding address, enter your domain including www., for example
  8. Click Create and you’re done.

Adding your domain to your Kong store

The last step is to add your domain to your Kong store. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log in to your Kong store.
  2. In the left-hand navigation, click Settings, followed by Domains.
  3. In the Primary Domain field, type in or paste your domain name ensuring to include the www. part.
  4. Click the Verify button to check that your CNAME record has been set up correctly.
  5. Save your settings.

Redirect to your primary custom domain

Once you’ve saved your domain, you’ll see an additional checkbox titled “Redirect visitors to my primary custom domain”. Ticking this will mean that any visitors that try to access your Kong subdomain URL, for example, will be redirected to your Primary Custom Domain.

This setting is recommended for most stores, but it’s completely down to personal preference.
