If you've purchased your domain through, then this guide will show you how to configure your domain, set up domain forwarding and add it to your Kong store.

Configuring your domain

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Select Domain list from the left-hand side menu and then click on the Manage button next to your domain.
  3. Navigate to the Advanced DNS tab at the top of the page.
  4. Find the Records section and click on the Add New Record button.
  5. Select ‘CNAME Record’ for Type and enter ‘www’ for Host.
  6. For Value, enter your Kong store URL, which will look something like You can find this by logging into your Kong store and going to Settings then Domains, and clicking the Copy to Clipboard button next to the CNAME Value field.
  7. Once all details have been entered, press the Save all changes button.

Forwarding your domain to www.

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click on Domain List.
  3. Click the Manage button next to the domain to you want to manage.
  4. Click the Add Redirect button in the Redirect Domain section.
  5. Now enter your domain name in Source URL, which should be your domain name without ‘www’.
  6. Now enter your domain name in Destination URL, this time with www., for example
  7. Once you’re done, click on the tick icon to save changes.

Adding your domain to your Kong store

The last step is to add your domain to your Kong store. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log in to your Kong store.
  2. In the left-hand navigation, click Settings, followed by Domains.
  3. In the Primary Domain field, type in or paste your domain name ensuring to include the www. part.
  4. Click the Verify button to check that your CNAME record has been set up correctly.
  5. Save your settings.

Redirect to your primary custom domain

Once you’ve saved your domain, you’ll see an additional checkbox titled “Redirect visitors to my primary custom domain”. Ticking this will mean that any visitors that try to access your Kong subdomain URL, for example, will be redirected to your Primary Custom Domain.

This setting is recommended for most stores, but it’s completely down to personal preference.
