Setting up PayPal Website Payments Pro

We've made it as simple as possible for you to set up PayPal Website Payments Pro on your Kong store. To get started, you'll first need to upgrade your PayPal account to a Business account (if you don't have one already), choose how you'd like to get paid and set up your API credentials.

If you already have a Business account, you simply need to retrieve your API credentials.

Upgrading to a Business Account and Generating API Credentials

  1. Log in to your PayPal account at https://www.paypal.com

  2. Click the cog icon in the top right, next to the Log Out button

  3. Now you're on the Settings page, find the Account options section and click the Upgrade to a Business account link

  4. On the new page that opens, you'll be asked if you'd like to Create a Business account or Upgrade your account
    • If you choose to Create a new account, you'll be asked to create a new log in and provide some details about your business
    • If you opted to Upgrade your existing account, then you'll just be asked for your business details

  5. You'll be asked for business details, that may include your business name and address, business category and date of birth

  6. Next, you'll need to choose how you'd like to get paid. You must select On your website, but you can also select any of the other 3 options too, then click Continue

  7. On the next screen, you'll be asked to choose how you'd like to process payments
    • If you'd like to accept credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal, then choose Process all payments through PayPal
    • If you'd only like to accept PayPal then choose Add PayPal checkout as another way to get paid

  8. Now, choose Option A: Work with a partner that's pre-integrated with PayPal then click Set up API access

  9. On the API Access page, under Option 2 click on Request API credentials

  10. Leave the selection on Request API signature and click Agree and Submit

  11. You can then click Show next to the API Username, API Password and Signature to view your newly created API credentials

Apply for PayPal Website Payments Pro
